Agricultural loans for Kenyan farmer groups
Shaba Kilimo is group capital for farming — built for women and youth self-help groups running poultry, dairy and horticulture enterprises, at the lowest rate Brisk offers.
Why the rate is lower
Shaba Kilimo runs at 10% for the 30-day cycle, against 30% on the individual business products. Group lending spreads risk across members who know each other and hold each other accountable, and that lower risk is passed back to the group as a lower rate.
What it funds
Poultry — chicks, feed, vaccination, housing. Dairy — feed, veterinary costs, milk-handling equipment. Horticulture — seed, fertiliser, irrigation inputs, transport to market. The cycle is designed to sit alongside a production cycle rather than cut across it.
Who qualifies
Registered or informal farmer groups, with a strong focus on women-led and youth-led groups. Talk to your nearest branch about group size and record requirements before applying.
No collateral
Like every Brisk product, Shaba Kilimo is unsecured. No title deeds, no livestock pledged.
