Business loans in Kenya for traders and SMEs
Shaba is working capital for people running a biashara — mama mboga, salon, hardware, shop, wholesale, transport. Money to buy stock, cover a gap, or take an order you could not otherwise fund.
Who it is for
Any individual running a business that has been trading for at least six months. You do not need registration papers or audited accounts. You need a real, running business and an M-Pesa number in your name.
The early-repayment discount
The single most valuable thing to understand about Shaba: the cycle rate is 30%, but finishing within 21 days reduces it to 21%. On a KSh 50,000 loan that is KSh 4,500 kept in your pocket for repaying nine days sooner. Plan for day 21, not day 30.
Growing your limit
Limits are earned. Borrow, repay cleanly, and the next cycle can go higher — up to KSh 100,000.
