Digital lending in Kenya, done properly
Digital lending should mean one thing: money in your M-Pesa when you need it, on terms you understood before you borrowed. Brisk Credit Ltd combines a fully digital application with something most app-only lenders do not have — 42 physical branches and loan officers you can sit down with.
What makes a good digital lender
Kenya has no shortage of loan apps. The differences that matter are not the marketing — they are the terms, the disclosure and the recourse. Before borrowing from anyone, check four things: the total cost stated up front as a shilling figure rather than a percentage buried in a menu; whether collateral or a logbook is demanded; how the lender behaves if you repay early; and whether there is a real office you can walk into.
How Brisk Credit answers those four
Every Brisk loan runs a single, clearly stated 30-day cycle. There is no collateral on any product — we do not hold logbooks, title deeds or bikes. Repaying early is rewarded rather than penalised: on the Shaba and Shaba Rider products, finishing within 21 days reduces the interest from 30% to 21%. And with 42 branches across the country, you are never dealing with an anonymous app.
Digital application, human approval
You apply online or on WhatsApp. A loan officer reviews it — a person, not only an algorithm — and calls you to confirm. Approved funds go directly to your M-Pesa, usually the same day. Repayment is through M-Pesa Paybill 4106969.
Regulated lending
Brisk Credit Ltd operates under Central Bank of Kenya digital-credit-provider regulation. Ask any lender for their licensing position before you borrow — a lender who will not answer that question is answering it.
